Platinum Wave celebrates a record year of success

Platinum Wave, Scotland’s largest franchise consultancy, is gearing up for Scottish Franchise Week 2018 by announcing a record year. Its success has been attributed to winning some huge contracts, as well as working closely with one of the country’s largest franchisors who is based in Glasgow.

It’s estimated that Platinum Wave has more than doubled its turnover in the last year, cementing its place as not only Scotland’s top franchise consultancy, but one of the most successful in the UK. It has won several impressive contracts recently, including with thriving Scottish food brands such as Oink and Crolla’s Gelateria.

Platinum Wave also works closely with the multi-brand owning food and retail franchisor, Athif Sarwar. He is generally regarded as one of Scotland’s top entrepreneurs, with brands ranging from over 500 Usave and Day–Today stores in Scotland, to owning the German Doner Kebab brand worldwide. GDK currently has 60 franchises across 12 countries, with further massive expansion plans in place. Platinum Wave is currently assisting launching his brands internationally, targeting areas such as Europe, North America and the Middle East.

Over the last seven years, PW has helped approximately 60 businesses prepare for franchising and find franchisees both nationally and internationally. PW is currently assisting clients, including dance and theatre school franchise Razzamataz Theatre Schools, home care franchise Right at Home, and top cleaning franchise NiC, increase their presence in Scotland, particularly searching for franchisees in hot spots such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Inverness.

Platinum Wave is headed up by Suzie McCafferty, who is regarded as one of the premier franchise experts in the UK and beyond. Suzie is a former international franchisor who took her own Scottish retail business to 70 outlets in 6 countries. McCafferty also built up a £30m recruitment agency franchise network, and is the long-standing chairperson of the Scottish Franchise Forum.

“Franchising is flourishing currently on a global scale, and it is generally regarded as the best growth strategy there is,” comments Suzie.

“As a business we are at the centre of franchising in Scotland, working with top brands both here and abroad. We have enjoyed a very successful past twelve months, including some substantial contract wins which helps to cement our position at the top table.

“Franchising contributes hugely to the economy, with the British Franchise Association estimating that it will be worth £1billion to the Scottish economy by 2020. I love this industry and what it can do for people. Once upon a time I had a shop in Edinburgh selling refillable ink cartridges. Thanks to franchising, and the wonderful support and advice of some of the very people who make Scottish Franchise Week such an incredible success, my business grew to 70 franchised stores across 6 countries.”

This year’s Scottish Franchise Week will take place on 24 – 25 April and incorporate a range of events for prospective franchisees and franchisors alike.

McCafferty adds: “Scottish Franchise Week is always a key date in our calendar. Attending these events could be the key to someone finding out if their own business could be franchised, or if they should perhaps invest in a franchise. We are very proud to be a long-standing sponsor of Scottish Franchise Week and would encourage anyone who wants to learn more about this fantastic industry right here in Scotland to book onto some (or all) of the events!

“We are also excited to be sponsoring Franchise Opportunities this year; a new franchise event which will give franchise brands the opportunity to show off what they can do.”

Taking place on 25 April at Grand Central Hotel, the event will allow those considering investing in a franchise the chance to meet a wide range of franchise brands and attend free presentations. For those looking to franchise an existing business, Suzie will be hosting free seminars on the process and practicalities.
