Local in-home care business owner wins international award for commitment to clients

Local businessman, Hammad Cheema, is celebrating with his team of carers and support staff, after the West London based domiciliary care business, Visiting Angels, is named the best in the world. Voted ‘Best International Office’ at the 2021 virtual Visiting Angels conference, Hammad has been rewarded for his ongoing commitment to his local clients across Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow, Wimbledon, Richmond upon Thames, Putney, Merton and Wandsworth.

Visiting Angels celebrating

Hammad and his excellent management team embody everything that an excellent care provider should be,” explained Dave Ritterling, Senior Vice President of Global Operations for Visiting Angels. “His care business values its care staff and ensures that well motivated and educated carers can therefore deliver excellent care. We have over 700 franchisees from across the world and Hammad is simply one of the very best.

Hammad, who was recognised as the best in the world amongst international offices in the USA, Mexico, Canada, South Korea and the UK, was proud to celebrate this achievement – his second milestone in less than a week – with his team of support staff and carers.

“We were all so taken aback by the news – we had no idea we had even been considered, especially taking into account the fact that we only launched last year. But we really have committed to providing an exemplary quality of care, which has been proven by the GOOD rating we’ve just received from the Care Quality Commission, following our first inspection. We actually received an OUTSTANDING rating for one of the five measures we’re graded on, which is very rare for a first inspection, so it’s been a busy week of – virtual – celebrations for the entire team. We’re looking forward to coming together in person later in the year to celebrate in style,” said Hammad.

Hammad launched Visiting Angels last March, just four days before the nationwide lockdown. The experienced entrepreneur formed the care company in a bid to tackle rising loneliness in the elderly and meet the growing need for quality care that is prevalent in the region. Whilst many businesses had no choice but to close in the wake of COVID-19, Hammad saw it more important than ever to push ahead with the launch of Visiting Angels.

“My ethos is to always do things the right way and I think, in the elderly care industry, that means doing things a little differently,” said Hammad. “All too often, care staff are paid minimum wage, given very little support and just generally not treated very well. This has an impact on the quality of the care they deliver and their attitudes towards work, which is why I’m so committed to our carer-centric ethos. I have an elderly parent myself, so I know how important it is to be able to have confidence that person coming into your home is genuinely caring, reliable and trustworthy. That’s always going to be the litmus test – if I’d be happy for someone to look after my own mother, then I’m happy for them to look after our clients.”

Visiting Angels provides more than 450 care hours per week to local clients. As Hammad and the team look to the future, the plan is to continue to increase the range of services and care hours provided, whilst maintaining the stellar reputation the team has established during the course of the last 16 months.
