HERTFORDSHIRE FITNESS BUSINESSS SHORTLISTED

IN 2015 bfa HSBC FRANCHISEE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

A Hertfordshire man who had open heart surgery only months after launching his new business has been shortlisted for a national franchise award.

Tim Harris from Welwyn Garden City is one of three finalists in the ‘Young’ category at the 2015 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards, for his hugely successful Anytime Fitness franchise.

The 30-year-old launched his new business in late 2013; in the next 12 months, he opened his gym; got married; moved house; his wife became pregnant with twins – and Tim underwent open heart surgery after suffering palpitations.

Despite such a traumatic year, Tim has managed to build a hugely successful business, reaching the 1,000 member landmark after just nine months, with a predicted turnover for the current financial year of over £400,000.

“I’m delighted to reach this stage of the bfa Franchisee of the Year Awards,” says Tim. “The team and myself have worked hard to make sure that our health club is the friendliest and best place to train in, whatever your background. We deliberately chose an extremely convenient location which is accessible 24 hours a day to help the local people get fit and achieve their goals. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved so far and am looking forward to what the future holds.”

The bfa awards showcase the diversity of excellence in the franchise sector, encouraging businesses of all sizes and sectors to demonstrate their outstanding achievements. Winners will be announced at a black tie dinner on 1st October at the Town Hall, Birmingham.
