Helen Thompson joins the bfa

The British Franchise Association (bfa) has appointed Helen Thompson QFP as its second business development manager, working alongside Emily Embra to help drive member engagement and recruitment.

Well known and respected in the sector, Helen brings eight years of experience in franchisee recruitment to her new role and has worked with a wide variety of franchisors during that time, from international brands to those just starting out.

A former consultant with franchisee recruitment company Kyros, Helen has since held positions as interim manager for Dunkin’ Brands and as franchise development manager for two bfa member franchisors. She completed her QFP in 2013, a year in which she was also awarded ‘Woman Service Provider of the Year’ by EWIF for her success in recruiting the right franchisees.

Helen said: “I’ve always been passionate about good franchisors having a strong platform for their businesses and have been engaged with the bfa since I started in the sector, so I’m thrilled to now be working with the team. Franchising has an incredible and supportive community that all ethical operators should be proud to be associated with.

“I’m looking forward to working with existing and new members of the Association and feel I have the right experience to help them grow and strengthen their networks.”

Pip Wilkins, the bfa’s head of operations, commented:

We couldn’t have asked for anyone better suited to the position. Helen’s experience of franchising from both a recruitment and growth perspective will bring significant added value to our members. She brings with her a fantastic network of contacts to support our drive for new franchisors and shares the vision of the Association to represent all stakeholders, including more franchisees.”

Helen began her role on 1 September.
