From Tanks to Alarms: Former Lance Corporal launches Jackson Fire & Security in Walsall

From repairing tanks in the desert to installing fire and security systems is quite a leap of faith but it’s one that Sam Gale, who recently opened the Walsall franchise of Jackson Fire & Security, has been pleased to take.

Sam was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) where he trained as a mechanic having previously worked as an electrician working primarily on tanks. Since leaving the army after seven years’ service he has worked as a health, safety and fire consultant most recently with Bureau Veritas.

He explains: “I really enjoyed my time in the army and the training I received there was world class. In civvy street I was looking for an opportunity equally challenging and one which would use my technical skills to the full. Jackson Fire & Security ticked every box.

“I now plan to meet with as many local business owners as possible to show them what we do and the cost-savings that are possible, there is huge potential around this area. I will also be recruiting more local engineers in the near future, I have already taken on one engineer and plan to have a least two on the road as soon as possible.

The new franchise, based on Bridge Street, will cover Walsall, Lichfield, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Cannock and the surrounding areas.

Steve Jackson, managing director of Jackson Fire & Security said: “Sam’s background in the army and his professional training as an electrician and mechanic made him a perfect candidate to run our Walsall franchise. His technical knowledge is first class and he is a real asset to the company.”

Founded in 1991, Jackson Fire & Security employs 35 people across franchises in North Wales, North West England, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Cambridgeshire.

They provide a one-call service whereby the engineers service fire and security systems, plus emergency lighting and fire extinguishers during a single visit, to save inconvenience and site attendance fees for customers.

One of the UK’s leading independent providers of fire and security systems, they are NSI gold accredited for fire and security systems. Jackson Fire & Security are also partnered with Siemens to provide a fire alarm system with a no false alarm guarantee.
