Dedicated franchising event coming to the North West this summer

Support to find, launch and grow a franchise will abound at The Northern Franchise Exhibition at EventCity, Manchester on 21 and 22 June.

“I’d always wanted to be my own boss but I’m not someone who could set up a business from scratch, so a franchise suited me down to the ground.” – David Ramm, Lancaster; franchisee of Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA).

A franchise provides an accessible and proven route to business ownership and success for people from all walks of life.  David was looking to move on from his career in retail and to achieve a better work-life balance when he launched his franchise with ERA last November, having met the brand at a previous Northern Franchise Exhibition.

Enterprising individuals like David can explore a range of franchise brands this June at the exhibition boasting a range of global and national names including Anytime Fitness, McDonald’s, ActionCOACH, Really Awesome Coffee and The Creation Station.

Investment levels start from below £10,000 and run to upwards of £250,000, covering a variety of business types including van, home and premises-based enterprises. Visitors will find opportunities in the food, fitness, care, property, children’s and business-to-business sectors.

All exhibiting brands have been assessed and accredited by the British Franchise Association (bfa) as operating a viable business format franchise. As well as providing this assurance, the bfa’s exclusive involvement in the event delivers a series of seminars covering the fundamentals of franchising, as well as the bfa Real Franchise Stories panel sessions dedicated to revealing candid insights from operational franchisees.

Entrepreneurs seeking a franchise with restaurant giant McDonald’s should register for the McDonald’s Insight Sessions. These seminars are designed to illustrate exactly what it’s like to be a franchisee of this global brand, as well as explaining the company’s rigorous recruitment process. Senior members of the McDonald’s family will also be present on their stand for one-to-one conversations with visitors.

With a focus on how to grow an existing or future business, be it an independent or a franchised venture, the Growing Your Own Business Conference is co-located with the exhibition. Here, visitors can learn from specialists on how to attract and retain customers, increase sales and fund tactics for growth.

The wider exhibition provides further seminars covering many aspects of franchising, from what to look out for in the all-important franchise agreement, to how to expand an existing business through franchising.

Visitors can also benefit from free, personalised consultations with experts in finance for franchises at the Finance Clinic, or in career planning at the Careers Clinic.

Helen McCulloch, portfolio manager at Venture Marketing Group, organisers of The Franchise Exhibitions, summarises:

“The Northern Franchise Exhibition provides a crucial platform in the North West for acquiring valuable insights and practical support to access and makes a success of the lucrative world of franchising.”
