Day in the life of a Really Awesome Coffee Franchisee

Really Awesome Coffee is the UK’s leading mobile cafe franchise. Our franchise partners enjoy a healthy work-life balance serving gourmet coffee, snacks and confectionary to customers at local businesses. Each day our franchisees our out in the fresh air interacting with their customers, building relationships, having a laugh and serving high quality beverages.

We caught up with James Findlay our Glasgow franchisee to document how he spends his time in a typical working day:

7:00 – 8:00 am

Out to the van to get the pie heater switched on along with the espresso machine. I like to have a quick breakfast then I put the pies and pasties into the oven. I then go back out to the van to load up with milk, coffee beans, napkins and paper bags and then back inside to check the pies.

8:00 – 9:00

I check the pie temperatures, then once done I put them into the vans pie heater cabinet. After a final check at about 8.40 I’m off to the first stop.

9:00am – 10:00

I arrive at first stop at about 9:00 and its one stop after another until about 14.15 – 14.30.

10:00 – 11:00

Continue with my daily coffee round.

11:00 – 13:00

I check the temperature of the pies/pasties that are still in the vans pie heater and continue on with my coffee round.

13:00 – 14:00

Continue with my daily coffee round.

14:00 – 15:00

After the last stop at about 14.15 it is time to return home. I generally arrive back around 14.30 – 14.45. Once back I check any unsold pies/pasties, and if I’m lucky I might have one for a late lunch although I have to be quick as there’s competition from my two sons in the house. I then switch off the pie heater, grinder and espresso machine and clean down the van.

15:00 – 16:00

I restock the confectionary baskets and the fridge with soft drinks. Then I restock the van with cups and lids if needed. Once finished, I count the money from the till and complete the end of day report, then put my feet up and have my dinner.

If you could see yourself in James’s position and want to find out more on how our franchise can bring you a healthier work-life balance, please submit an enquiry form.
