ChipsAway franchisee wins 30 Under 30 Rising Star Award

Owner of ChipsAway Exeter, Brandon Akerman, is celebrating after being presented with the Bodyshop Magazine’s ‘30 under 30 Rising Stars of 2021’ award at the Bodyshop Awards dinner last week.

Brandon received this highly coveted award at the annual event, which took place at the ICC Wales, accompanied by Franchise Support Manager, Annabel Wilson, Technical Director, Simon Kings and Brandon’s family.

Entrepreneur Brandon, joined the ChipsAway network in September 2020, aged just 21. Within the space of only six months Brandon had developed his mobile car body repair business into a thriving ChipsAway Car Care Centre workshop, taking on an employee to help him achieve his aspirations for the future.

The Bodyshop Magazine 30 under 30: Rising Stars award celebrates 30 inspirational individuals who have achieved something special in their sector and who are earmarked for future success.

Owner of ChipsAway Exeter, Brandon Akerman said: “Winning this award means everything to me. I put a lot of hard work and time into my business and sometimes it feels like you are not getting anywhere, so to achieve something like this just gives you that extra edge to push ahead again. A year ago, I didn’t think I would have what I have now, let alone win such a prestigious award. So, it just shows you can really achieve anything and at my age, the sky is the limit.”

“It was fantastic to see so many other young men and women receiving their awards and I hope that winning this award will inspire more people of my age to consider a career in the collision repair industry.”

Bodyshop Magazine Editor, Simon Wait said: “Congratulations to all of this year’s fantastic 30 Under 30 award winners. Once again, this is an impressive group of young people which we believe places the future of our industry in safe hands.”

ChipsAway has the largest network of repair specialists in the UK, and all have undergone specialist training at the bespoke IMI accredited training centre. Providing high quality, value-for-money repairs to car paintwork, specialists work from vehicles fully equipped as mobile workshops, or fixed-base units known as Car Care Centres.
