Aspray celebrates double finalist nominations in the prestigious 2024 BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards
We are delighted to share the exciting news that two outstanding members of the Aspray family, Ben Taylor and Joe McGuigan, have been nominated as finalists in the esteemed 2024 BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards. These prestigious nominations highlight the exceptional talent and dedication within the Aspray network.
Ben Taylor – British Franchise Awards Finalists
Manchester-based Ben Taylor, Director of Aspray (Manchester Central), has been recognised as a finalist in the “Next Generation Franchisee” category. At just 29 years old, Ben has already achieved remarkable success in his career. His commitment to knowledge and self-improvement, combined with his hands-on approach to managing insurance claims for policyholders, has set him apart as an exemplary franchisee.
Ben’s entrepreneurial journey is inspiring. He transitioned from a successful career in recruitment to joining Aspray, driven by the challenges posed by the pandemic. During this period, he also played a crucial role in producing PPE for local hospitals. Ben’s family values are evident as he works closely with his aunt Lindsey, mother Tracy, and fiancée Rachel.
Reflecting on his nomination, Ben Taylor said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be nominated as a finalist at the British Franchise Awards. This recognition validates the commitment and dedication I have given to providing an unwaveringly high level of service to our clients. Being under 30, this award also highlights the potential for success for young individuals, including those like me who have made a complete career change.”
Joe Mcguigan – British Franchise Awards Finalist
From Scotland, Joe McGuigan, owner of Aspray (Glasgow North and South), has earned his place as a finalist in the “Business Builder” category. Since purchasing the franchise in 2013, Joe has devoted the past decade to growing his business and assisting thousands of property owners with their insurance claims. His leadership and passion have made him a key figure within the Aspray network.
Joe’s dedication extends beyond his professional achievements. He recently completed an 8-day cycling journey from Vietnam to Cambodia, raising an impressive £16,000 for Marie Curie. This fundraising effort underscores his commitment to making a positive impact both in his community and beyond.
Commenting on his nomination, Joe McGuigan said: “It is good to be recognised and put forward as a finalist for the effort my whole team have put in. Since joining the company in 2013, I have been committed to delivering exceptional service and support to our clients, and this nomination inspires me to continue striving for excellence.”
Recognising Excellence in Franchising
Pip Wilkins, Chief Executive of the BFA, expressed her admiration for this year’s finalists: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 35th year of the BFA awards this year and as always, another exceptionally difficult round of shortlisting. We never cease to be amazed by our entrants’ ingenuity and tenacity. I’d like to offer my congratulations to everyone who made the finals; this is in itself a huge achievement and one they should be extremely proud of.”
Gillian Morris, UK Head of Franchise at HSBC UK, also commended the finalists: “My heartfelt congratulations to the deserving finalists in this year’s British Franchise Awards. Shortlisting the entries and choosing the finalists is one of the toughest challenges of my year but it’s one I love. I was truly inspired by the brilliant businesses amongst this year’s entrants, and the finalists really do represent the best of British franchising.”
