APCRG Responsible Business Champions 2017

Home Care Preferred are delighted to announce that they have been selected by former local MP Mr David Burrowes as the Enfield Southgate Constituency Responsible Business Champion in the APCRG’s 2017 Responsible Business Champions award.

This recognition means the world to Home Care Preferred as they are a passionate and dedicated team who are committed to not only delivering first-class support and increasing their clients’ quality of life but also enhancing the lives of the local community – particularly the disadvantaged and vulnerable – they truly believe in responsible business and giving something back to the community that has given them so much.

The award is an opportunity for the nominating MP to recognise and draw attention to a valuable local business, and therefore encourage other employers in the constituency to follow suit.

The franchise will now be put forward for consideration in the National Responsible Business Awards 2017, where a parliamentary judging panel will select a national champion. They will particularly be looking for companies that are:

  • Supporting the local community
  • Investing in healthy workplaces
  • Offering apprenticeships and training to all
  • Promoting diversity & inclusion in the workplace, including offering people with disabilities work opportunities
  • Monitoring suppliers’ actions on these issues

Home Care Preferred match many of the criteria, often supporting local charities and their events, and hosting their own fundraising events to benefit the local community – such as their musical fundraising event in aid of Chase Farm Charity’s rehabilitation gardens.

They are proud to be supporting and assisting local organisations who aid those who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. In conjunction with Mr Burrowes, they have re-launched Enfield Fresh Start – a networking and professional support group to bring together various organisations to tackle this growing problem in the borough and create a more cohesive service. They will be publishing a directory of services available and have many other plans to support this vulnerable group. Promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including offering people with disabilities work opportunities, is a passion of theirs.

The franchise already employs those with learning disabilities such as autism – they are a huge asset and enhancement to the team – and they also hope to offer a wider range of opportunities in the future.

Their Streets to Care scheme also offers those who have been homeless or are in unstable living situations to train as a live in carer – providing them with stable accommodation, the ability to pursue a rewarding and fruitful career and the opportunity to save substantial amounts of money to allow them to rebuild their lives. They are at the recruitment stage of this venture and are very excited about the scheme’s future prospects.

Home Care Preferred are incredibly proud of this award and the recognition that goes with it, and hope to keep supporting the community for many years to come.
