Subway’s regional development agents take over new territory

Subway has announced its development region for Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire is now under the management of new regional development agents.

Bob Dalgarno, Liam Dalgarno and Adrian Johnson have taken over the development agent contract for the region, and will now be driving forward growth of the Subway brand throughout the territory.

Father-and-son team Bob and Liam became franchisees when they opened their first store in 2004.

In December 2011, they became regional development agents for Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, when the region had just 44 Subway stores. The pair have since driven development in the territory, which now has 107 stores, owning nine themselves.

Adrian has worked with the Subway brand for many years, starting as a store manager before working with Bob and Liam as a field consultant in the Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex region. Most recently, Adrian has taken on the position of operations director, and is now teaming up with Bob and Liam to drive development in their new region.

There are currently 73 Subway stores open in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and the trio have ambitious plans for development in both their new and existing territories.

Liam Dalgarno, regional development agent for Subway, says: “We’re delighted to become the new regional development agents for Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. It was always a goal of my father, Bob, and I to have our own development agent territory, and when the opportunity arose in 2011, we jumped at it and we haven’t looked back since.

“Taking on the new territory, with Adrian joining us on the contract, cements our commitment to driving development for the Subway brand.

“We’re now looking to the future and have a target of opening 90 new Subway stores across the two territories in the next five years.”

To achieve their five-year growth target, Bob, Liam and Adrian will be looking for a mix of new franchisees to join the system, existing Subway franchisees to become multi-unit owners, and to open further stores with the brand’s non-traditional and corporate partners.

Peter Dowding, country director for Subway UK and Ireland, adds: “We are pleased to see two of our existing regional development agents take over the company territory. Bob and Liam have been the development agents for Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex for the last five years.

Adrian started as a sandwich artist, has progressed through to operations manager and now development agent. They have a wealth of knowledge of the company between them; it will be great to see their development in the Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire territory.”
