The Alternative Board 2015 Franchise Owner Survey
The Alternative Board launched in the UK in 2009 and we now have 21 Franchise Owners in the UK, with the first of them launching over 5 years ago. There were 19 responses to the survey which was conducted independently by ‘Franchise Business Review’ (FBR) and the results echo our belief that the key to the continued success of TAB in the UK is the level of satisfaction of our Franchise Owners and our Members. Of the 9 categories in the survey, TAB UK scored higher than the FBR benchmark in 7 of the categories, with some being as much as 13% higher than the benchmark. 
General Satisfaction
70% of TAB Franchise Owners would recommend a TAB franchise to a potential franchise owner, and 78% agree that they would invest in a TAB franchise again. When asked how they would rate TAB as a franchisor and as an opportunity, 77.8% of respondents rated them as very good or excellent.
Leadership
The vast majority, 97.7%, of respondents agree that we have a clear vision for the company which leads to a high level of agreement that the company is being driven forward effectively.
Financial Opportunity
Against the FBR benchmark, 7% more TAB respondents agreed that the total investment into their TAB business, including both time and money, has been consistent with their expectations and information provided by TAB UK. This is important to us as we feel we are always honest and open with potential and existing franchise owners, so the fact they feel the same confirms this for us. With regards to the long- term growth opportunity of their TAB business, 70.6% of respondents felt this was ‘strong’ or ‘very strong’.
Core Values
‘Doing the right thing in the right way’ is a TAB commitment, so achieving an overall score of 92.8% in this area (compared to the benchmark of 79.2%) is very positive. Trust, respect, honesty and integrity scored 94.7%.
Training and Support
84.4% of people scored TAB’s training and support programmes ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’. We put a lot of effort and resource into giving franchise owners a great start to launching their TAB business but it doesn’t stop there. There’s a full programme of continued development to help franchise owners grow their TAB businesses and develop their skills.
Franchise Community
We are very proud that the culture of TAB is one of sharing and support and we encourage this between our members 100% of our franchise community agree that their fellow franchise owners are supportive of each other.
