Home Instead announces acquisition to enhance ‘live-in’ care services

In a move which signals the intention of leading franchise Home Instead Senior Care to extend their ‘live-in’ care offering, they have acquired Supercarers, a care introductory business, to enable more older people to be cared for at home.

The strategic move is in response to the changing needs of elderly clients who are looking for live-in care as an alternative to care homes. It will allow their network of over 215 franchise offices to provide around the clock care in a person’s home.

Home Instead CEO, Martin Jones, said: “Home is the place people feel happiest and most secure and our services can support that – we know from our research that 98% of over 65s say it’s important to them that they stay living independently in their own home.

“Acquiring the SuperCarers business is an exciting development for us and will allow us to build on our home care offer to support even more people at home for longer. This can be from early-stage care, which might only involve using technology to stay in touch with an older person to ensure they are safe, right through to more support around personal care, home help, and then eventually live-in care and palliative care.”

The SuperCarers operation will be implemented into the quality Home Instead Senior Care model in the coming months.

Adam Pike of SuperCarers said: “Home Instead Senior Care is incredibly well respected in the home care market and we were delighted with the opportunity to join forces to support even more older people to receive the care they so deserve at home and look forward to working with the team at Home Instead to achieve this.”

Home Instead was established in the UK 15 years ago and in this time has grown to 215 franchise offices with 10,000 CAREGivers looking after 15,000 elderly clients every day. As a national home care provider it specialises in providing care and companionship in the home for older people. It also delivers specialist dementia care plus live-in care, end-of-life and respite care.
