Franchise specialist firm Goldstein Legal acquired by nexa law

One of British franchising’s foremost legal practices has been acquired by new model legal platform, nexa law for an undisclosed sum.

Set up in 2006, Goldstein Legal is a widely respected commercial and specialist legal practice with a strong brand presence in the UK franchise sector. Founder Roz Goldstein and her colleagues Catrina Newman, Alette Anderson and Belle Ghaleb will continue to operate together under the Goldstein Legal brand following the acquisition and Goldstein Legal will remain an affiliate member of the British Franchise Association.

The Goldstein Legal team will be joining forces with Amy Leite, nexa’s experienced franchise solicitor, among others.  Nexa law, home to more than 100 lawyers, eschews the traditional law firm model by engaging legal consultants with a focus on client value and service.  It is nexa’s second acquisition after the purchase of London corporate firm, Peregrine Law in 2020.

Roz commented: “This is very much business as usual for all our clients, but with enhanced resources to complement and develop our franchising team.  I’m thrilled to be working with Amy, an exceptional and experienced lawyer who will help underpin Goldstein Legal’s reputation as one of the leading franchise law firms in the country”.

“In nexa law, we have a partner who shares our values of straight-talking, honest and exceptional advice that puts the client first.”

Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchise Association, said: “I am delighted to see the strengthening of the franchise team at Goldstein Legal and look forward to their continuing contribution to the aims of the bfa and its members.”

Eliot Hibbert, founder and co-CEO of nexa, commented “It has been a massively exciting year for nexa as we push hard to become the challenger brand of choice for ambitious consultant and freelance lawyers. Goldstein Legal adds real depth and strength for us in a really important business sector.”

Nigel Clark, nexa co-CEO added “We’re on an exciting journey at nexa as we see the UK legal market evolving rapidly.  To be able to combine our ambitions with those of Roz and her team is a great fit for us and for looking after our client franchise brands in the UK and internationally.”
