Blog: A year in lockdown – Guardian Angel Carers

Twelve months on from the first lockdown, and ‘this unprecedented year’, Guardian Angel Carer’s core values have enabled us, and our franchisees, to stay strong.

Similar to the NHS, our systems, our values and our people have been given the ultimate test. We are so proud of how our CareAngels and our franchisees have responded, and how we are able to face 2021 feeling strong and confident.

Care giving

Not one of us could have anticipated just how central to the news agenda the care profession would become in 2020. Nor could we have known of the sheer range of challenges – from the administrative to the emotional, from the commercial to the personal – that we would all have to add in to an already demanding work life.

Everything became amplified. The challenge of procuring 10 times more PPE equipment than we budget for in normal times. Cell working. The emotional toll of social distancing on our team and CareAngels for whom compassion and tenderness is a given. All experiences simultaneously being faced by our franchisees.

For them, having our blueprint HQ branch was a real benefit and support.  Our on-the-ground experts were able to understand the ramifications and need for clear decisions, which meant they took swift action that worked for all parties. Collective solutions were introduced and equipment provided – measures that have kept clients and CareAngels safe, and all our Home Care franchises open.

“I knew they would help me to take care of my clients, my CareAngels and me in the safest way. I just didn’t need to worry”. Lou Cobban, Franchisee, Spelthorne.

That none of our franchisees went short of PPE; that our central systems and support mechanisms stood up to the most rigorous of tests; that the values of the Guardian Angel Carers brand felt more relevant than ever has made us more committed than ever to ‘positively evolving care at home, and to supporting quality of life for longer’.

It’s why we are looking for purposeful and motivated people who share these values to join our franchise family.
