How I found the work-life balance I wanted

Mum-of-two ditches the corporate world after attending Venture Marketing Group’s franchise exhibition. 

After becoming a mother for the first time, Amanda realised that she wanted a job that would allow her more flexibility. Leaving her successful career in consumer sales behind her, she spent the next year juggling consultancy work with family life. When she had her second child in 2011, the mum-of-two decided it was time for a complete redirection.

Later that year, Amanda visited the National Franchise Exhibition at Birmingham with her husband Simon. It was there that she attended a seminar given by Steven Bolton, Platinum Property Partners’ founder and chairman, on what being a franchisee for the brand entailed.

“We initially went along to the exhibition just hoping to get some ideas but we came away with so much more. We saw Steve Bolton’s presentation and were really excited about the opportunities the franchise was offering. It was something that was interesting to us, something we could manage and something we would own. But the key thing for me was that it allowed me to earn a good income while spending time with the children.”

Amanda joined the property investment franchise in January 2012 and now, almost five years on, has six Houses in Multiple Occupations (HMOs) up and running which generate enough income to provide for her children’s education whilst enabling her to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.

Amanda continues: “I wouldn’t have been able to build my business without the support of Platinum Property Partners and the network. They help you to grow your business much quicker and also make us think about pension provision, wealth management, and how to get access to passive investment.”

Amanda now works approximately three days a week, freeing up her work life balance to spend time with her family.

Platinum Property Partners is one of the key exhibitors at this year’s National Franchise Exhibition, and will once again be looking for new franchisee candidates wanting to branch into the property investment industry to join their ever-expanding franchise.

The National Franchise Exhibition will be held at the NEC, Birmingham on the 17th and 18st February 2017. There will be numerous UK and international franchising opportunities available to visitors, including opportunities within some of the world’s biggest brands, such as Anytime Fitness, McDonalds and Rainbow International.
