Lanarkshire family business invests in second generation

A local entrepreneur has invested in her domestic cleaning business after employing her daughter to maintain the company’s high standards of customer service as it expands.

Angela and David Greenwood launched their domestic cleaning business Merry Maids of Lanarkshire in 2003 and serve customers in Hamilton, Motherwell, Strathaven and East Kilbride.

Angela identified the need for an additional person to work in the office so they could focus on attracting new customers to the business. She said: “We serve over 100 regular customers and employ 15 maids, so we needed to employ someone to maintain the high standards of customer service that our customers have come to expect from us. I am incredibly proud that Laura has joined the business. She’ll be a huge asset to our truly family-run business as it grows.”

Highly experience, Laura is raring to get started in her new role. She added: “Working in the family business has always appealed to me but until my own family reached a suitable age this has not been possible. I want to make a big impact and ensure that Merry Maids Lanarkshire continues trading for many years to come.”

Merry Maids is a franchise of ServiceMaster Ltd, which has been operating in the UK for over 55 years. With nearly 70 local Merry Maids businesses in the UK, it is one of the leading domestic cleaning brands in the industry.

Operations Brand Manager for Merry Maids, Catriona Berry concluded: “Laura will be a huge asset to her family’s successful cleaning business as she possesses a range of skills and knowledge of the company. We are looking forward to celebrating their achievements over the coming years.”
